Sir Christopher Lee, famous for his roles as Dracula and Count Dooku in Star Wars, has died at 93.
The legendary actor is reported to have died at 8.30am on Sunday 7th June at London’s Chelsea and Westminster Hospital where he was being treated for heart failure and respiratory problems. According to sources, Lee’s wife of over 50 years, Birgit Kroencke is said to have postponed the announcement of her husband’s death until she was able to let family members know.
Lee’s famous Hammer Horror partnership began in 1957 with The Curse of Frankenstein in which he played the infamous creature alongside Peter Cushing’s Victor Frankenstein. The acting veteran continued creating his horror classics with one of his most well-known roles as the sinister vampire in Terence Fisher’s Dracula (1958). Unfortunately the partnership turned sour as Lee suggested he was emotionally blackmailed into starring in a string of sequels.
